Your contribution to DFB makes a difference you can see.
At DFB, we focus on tangible projects with clear impacts, so that all donors – no matter how large or small their gift – can see the power of pooling efforts and dollars to create a positive change.
Impact-Driven Project Fundraising
The vast majority of funds donated through DFB go directly to projects. The ideas for what we’ll fund are always generated by our donors and grassroots organizers, so we stay focused on causes that are important to you. When considering projects to support, we want to know that a lump sum from DFB will be used for a specific need that will powerfully change a local organization’s ability to serve its community. We might donate an ambulance to a rural hospital or mosquito netting to a community wrought with malaria, or provide textbooks to an underserved school. The goal must be tangible and achievable in the short-term to receive funds from DFB. This way, we ensure control over how our funds are allocated and our members are able to enjoy the influence normally afforded only to major donors at a typical nonprofit.
We also know how important it is to track the impact of your donations and keep you updated about the projects you help fund. Since we require our recipient organizations to report on the results of our funding, we are able to monitor the outcomes and ensure your donations are used as intended.
The GO Fund
At DFB, our low-overhead model makes it possible for the lion’s share of our fundraising to go toward the projects themselves. But, to make those projects happen and to connect donors to these important causes, requires a bit of infrastructure. Our deliberately minimal costs include things like maintaining a website, banking, providing support to our chapters, and vetting and monitoring projects.
While “G.O.” stands for “General Operations,” our GO Fund also serves a second crucially important function: it provides finishing funds at times when project costs exceed our original grant commitment. Since DFB only selects tangible projects that we can cover from start to finish with our grant, the GO Fund is essential to making sure that those human needs are met each and every time.
When you add a few dollars to your project donation to help cover these costs, or simply donate to the GO Fund, you are truly contributing to making all of our projects “GO!”
